Red Brussels Sprouts Varieties Add Color to Your Meals

Add some unexpected color to your garden, containers and meals with red Brussels sprouts.
Redarling is a new introduction that has vivid red-purple sprouts that are slightly sweeter than their green counterparts. They retain their color even when steamed, boiled or roasted.

Rubine is an heirloom variety known for its sweet flavor and colorful sprouts that mature in the cool late fall weather.

The red round leaves of Red Bull add color to the garden. Watch the sprouts turn a deeper red after a fall frost.

Falstaff has green leaves with purple veins and produces red sprouts that maintain
their bluish-purple color even when cooked.
Grow Brussels sprouts in full sun and time your planting so you’ll be harvesting during the cooler months of the growing season. Plants tolerate a light frost and the flavor will be sweeter.

A bit more information: For information on these and other Brussel sprout varieties see Cornell University’s evaluation. Compare this to your local University Extension recommendations to help you select the best Brussels sprouts for your garden and meas.
