Small Scale Succulent Haworthia

Despite their small size, the easy care Haworthia succulents add delicate beauty to the indoor garden.

These succulents grow about 3 to 5 inches in size. Most varieties form a rosette of leaves that are highlighted with bands of white or shades of green, red or brown.

Plant them in a cacti and succulent potting mix and water thoroughly when the planting mix is almost dry. Haworthias generally prefer warmer temperatures in summer and like it a bit cooler in winter. They tolerate lower light conditions than most other succulents and perform best in an east- or west-facing window.

Display a collection of these succulents in a shallow dish garden. Or plant individual specimens in small unique containers like teacups or cocktail glasses. Adding drainage holes will help you avoid overwatering and increase your success.

A bit more information:  Refresh the soil by repotting these slow growers every 2 to 3 years. Plant in a container only slightly larger than the rootball. This is also a good time to separate any offsets that have formed at the base of the original plant. Use these to start new plants to expand your collection.
