Tomatoes Help Fight Skin Cancer
A tomato a day, may help keep skin cancer away, lower blood pressure and slow aging of the skin.
Lycopene, the red pigment in tomatoes, is the magical ingredient. We know it is good for fighting inflammation and various cancers. But recently UK researchers found that participants who ate a diet rich in tomato paste had 33 percent greater protection against sunburn. Researchers at The Ohio State University recently discovered that consuming tomatoes each day reduced by half the rate of non-melanoma skin cancers in mice.
The Skin Cancer Foundation recommends eating a healthy diet rich in antioxidants, including tomatoes, as part of your battle against skin cancer.
And continue to see your dermatologist. Wear a wide brimmed hat and sunglasses, use sunscreen and reapply it every 2 hours when in the sun.
A bit more information: Add green tea to your diet. It is rich in polyphenoids that help repair UV damaged skin.
