2018 AAS Flower Winners Queeny Lime Zinnia and Super Hero Spry Marigold

Consider adding one or more of the twelve 2018 All-America Selections national winners to your landscape this year. These plants are tested nationally and judged on their outstanding attributes for backyard gardeners like you.  We will cover a few winners each week.

Zinnias are a long time favorite. Easy to start from seed, great for pollinators, long lasting cut flowers and season long bloom.  Queeny Lime has large dahlia-like flowers on compact 1 ½ to 2’ tall plants. The flowers have shades of lime, yellow, peach, salmon and orange.

Marigolds are the other traditional favorite so many of us have started from seed right in the garden. The 2018 winner, Super Hero Spry, has dark maroon lower petals topped with golden petals and green leaves. These beauties bloom earlier than most French marigolds and require no deadheading.

A bit more information: Here’s what a couple of the judges had to say about Queeny Lime Zinnia “Absolutely LOVE this color! A showstopper in the trials” and “The color is a gorgeous pink/green that lasts as a cut flower for over a week.”
