Easy Care Burro's Tail (Sedum morganianum)
Add the unique easy-care succulent, burro’s tail, to your indoor garden or give as a gift to a gardening friend.
This sedum is grown for the unique foliage. The thick gray green triangular leaves overlap along the stem, inspiring the common name. Small dark pink flowers that may appear in spring or summer are just an added bonus.
Grow this succulent in bright light with several hours of direct sun. Plant in a shallow container filled with a well-drained potting mix.
Water thoroughly when the top few inches of soil are dry. Pour off any excess water that collects in the saucer.
This sedum is native to southern Mexico and will not tolerate temperatures below 45 degrees. Move the plant to a cool brightly lit location and allow the soil to dry for a rest period in winter. This will also help encourage spring blooms.
A bit more information: Echeveria is another low maintenance succulent perfect for the busy gardener. Give it the same care as burro’s tail and enjoy the subtle beauty of this plant.
