Fast and Easy DIY Patriotic Pots for the 4th of July

Didn’t plant a red, white and blue garden or container for the 4th of July? No worries. Just break out some paint and creativity and you’ll be set to celebrate in style.

Upcycle items like coffee cans and old crates into patriotic planters. Add a drainage hole if necessary and possible. Select a paint appropriate for the container’s surface and the outdoors.  Paint some pots blue and add white stars or white with red stripes.

Set one of your existing container gardens inside your patriotic pot. Use stones to elevate the inner container to the proper height if needed. Dress it up a bit by covering the surface with decorative moss or mulch.

If the patriotic pot lacks drainage holes simply lift the inner pot out, pour off the excess water that collected in the pebbles and reset the inner container back in place.

A bit more information:  No time for this? Simply grab some red, white and blue ribbon to tie around a mason jar. Add some colorful flowers or flags and you are set.
