Easter Lily and Spring Holiday Plants

Lilies are always a favorite of the Easter season but there are many other choices for this and other spring holidays.

Consider adding hardy lilies to your spring holiday season.   Many florists are forcing garden lilies for your spring indoor enjoyment.  These can be moved into the garden and enjoyed for years to come.  Just be aware that many florists use growth regulators to keep these plants down to table top size.  Just check the label before planting them in the garden.

Forced florist hydrangeas can also be used for spring beauty and holiday celebrations.  These need a chill, but not extreme cold to bloom from season to season.  You might decide to enjoy the color and texture inside, then move them outside to the patio for added foliage and then compost them in fall.

Brighten up your indoor plants with a few cut flowers.  Place cut flowers into floral picks and sink them into the soil amongst your tropical plants. 

A bit more information: Or create a new indoor garden for the spring season.  Sink a smaller container of forced bulbs, kalanchoes, or other spring beauty into a container filled with tropical plants. Once these flowers fade simply lift out the pot and replace it with another flowering plant.  You can add color and seasonal interest to any indoor planting.
