The Best Time to Prune Oak Trees
When is a good time to prune oak trees?
I prefer to prune oaks during the dormant season. You greatly reduce the risk of spreading Oak wilt disease. Always avoid pruning in spring and early summer when the fungus is present and insects that carry the disease are very active. At a minimum avoid pruning oaks April through July, better yet through October 1st.
