Increase Yield of Brussels Sprouts
For two seasons I’ve tried to grow Brussels sprouts. I always end up with strong plants, but only a handful of sprouts. What can I do to increase my yield?
Moisture and timing are critical for a bountiful and tasty harvest. Grow Brussels sprouts in full sun and provide ample moisture, especially during hot weather. Adjust your planting time so the Brussels sprouts will be ready to harvest before or after the hot dry summer. I plant in early to mid summer so my sprouts are ready to harvest in the cooler fall weather. The sprouts are fuller, firmer and less bitter. And fortunately these plants will tolerate a light frost if one arrives earlier than expected.
