Quick DIY Weekend Projects
Here are some quick and easy projects you can start and finish this weekend and enjoy for months to come.
Freshen up your container gardens with some cool season annuals like pansies, snapdragons and ornamental kale. Or start a new container filled with mums, asters, ornamental grasses, vines and more fall flowers.
Keep the kids busy creating a miniature garden in a container or vacant spot in the garden or mixed border. Let them get creative using shells, stones and other found items to create a mini forest, fairy garden or action hero hideout.
Paint or stain your front door. Then add a fall wreath to create a colorful welcome for guests.
Harvest and preserve herbs and vegetables from your garden. Or purchase fresh produce from your local farmer’s market.
Clean patio furniture and spruce things up with a few new pillows or cushions.
A bit more information: Start a new perennial garden or fill voids in existing borders. The warm soil and cooler air temperatures will get your garden off to a vigorous start. Or add some fall color to your in-ground gardens and mixed borders. Pansies, mums and asters add a last hoorah for the fall season.
