Include 2018 Pantone Color of the Year Ultra Violet in Your Landscape

Each year the Pantone Color Institute forecasts global color trends. These are colors we will see in home furnishings, advertisements and even our landscapes.

This year’s Pantone Color is Ultra Violet. Although not visible to the human eye the nearby visible color, violet, has long been a symbol of mystery, intrigue, artistic brilliance, counterculture and spirituality.

Include violet in your landscape with Night Sky petunia.  This showstopper has star-like flecks of white on large purple blossoms. Salvia May night was a past Perennial Plant of the Year. The growth habit and indigo blooms make this a favorite of zone 4 to 8 gardeners.

For something new consider First Editions Virtual Violet lilac with shiny violet new growth that turns green, deep purple stems and fragrant violet flowers.

A bit more information: The Pantone Institute feels this color choice will help “light the way” for experimentation, nonconformity to encourage individuals to push the boundaries through creative endeavors.
