Transplanting Daylily Plants
I’ve had some daylilies growing in a large container for several years. What’s the best time of year to transplant them into my garden?
Transplant your daylilies whenever you have time. Minimize the transplant shock and increase success by avoiding the hottest part of summer. Cold climate gardeners may want to get them in the ground by late summer so the plants have time to re-establish their roots before winter. In general spring blooming perennials are dug and divided in late summer or early fall, fall bloomers are transplanted in spring and summer bloomers can be moved in spring or fall. I find most plants can be moved whenever needed as long as you give them proper post transplant care.
