String of Pearls
I received a cascading pea plant from a friend. I can't find its name in my book.
Often called string of pearls (Senecio rowleyanus) this old fashioned houseplant could often be found growing on windowsills or cascading over the edge of a shelf. This native of southwestern Africa has adapted to survive droughty conditions. It prefers full sun and well-drained soil. So, water thoroughly when the top few inches of soil are dry. In the winter, you only need to water often enough to keep the leaves from shriveling. When the plant matures you may be rewarded with small white flowers.
