Pollinating Greenhouse Crops
I have a south-facing greenhouse where I am trying to grow a variety of plants. My strawberries and tomatoes are blooming. Do I need to pollinate the flowers? If so how?
You will need to give nature a helping hand. Use a small paint brush or cotton swab to transfer pollen from one strawberry flower to another. Do the same for the tomato. Once the pollen is transferred the plant will do the rest. Poor fruit set may result from fluctuating temperatures and moisture levels. Avoid these conditions and over-fertilization and you should soon have a tasty "fresh-from-the greenhouse" harvest to enjoy.
