Leaves of Dwarf Lemon Tree are Wrinkling
We have a dwarf lemon tree we got this spring. We had a lot of fruit on the tree and took it into the house for winter and placed it under a grow light. The lemons turn yellow and we have been using them. We water once every two weeks. Now the leaves are wrinkling. Should we cut back on watering or turn off the lights?
What an accomplishment. Not many northern gardeners can brag about picking fresh lemons from their own tree. Flowering and fruiting requires a lot of the plant's energy. You may need to give the plant a boost. Make sure the soil is moist but not wet. Water thoroughly. Pour off the excess water or place the plant on a tray filled with pebbles so the pot does not sit in the excess water. Water again when the soil just starts to dry. Use a dilute solution of balanced fertilizer to replenish some of the used nutrients. Continue lighting the plants for only 14-16 hours each day. All this will help the plant better replenish the energy used for fruiting.
