Impatiens-Leaves-are-Yellow-with-Black-Spots-THUMB.jpg

Impatiens Leaves are Yellow with Black Spots

have been planting maintenance free impatiens for years. The plants have always been healthy and attractive.  This year the plants are blooming but the leaves are blotchy yellow with black markings. What could I do to prevent this problem in the future?

Several leaf spot diseases cause the damage you described.  Remove infected leaves as soon as they appear.  Do not save these plants over winter.  Reduce disease problems by starting with fresh disease free plants and if possible grow them in a different location.  By rotating plant locations you avoid build up of insect and disease that can cause problems in next year’s garden.
