Climbing Hydrangea Has Yet to Bloom
Three springs ago I planted a climbing hydrangea. I followed the instructions that came with it as to using root stimulator, and later fertilizer. Each year it climbs higher with beautiful leaves but no blossoms. Any ideas?
Climbing hydrangeas, hardy in zones 5 (somewhat 4) through 7 or 8, take several years to get established and start blooming. Avoid using high nitrogen fertilizers. These encourage leaf growth and discourage flowering. Be patient and soon you will be rewarded with beautiful blossoms each season.
