Bird of Paradise Has Never Bloomed
I have a Bird of Paradise that seems to be doing very well. It is very thick and keeps sending up new shoots. Unfortunately, it has never flowered. I planted it 7 years ago this spring.
Bird of Paradise will start blooming when the roots fill a large, 10 inches or more, container. Don't be anxious to move your plant into a large pot. Gradually increase the container size by transplanting potbound plants one pot size larger with each move. Grow your plant in a sunny east, west or south-facing window. Keep the soil moist and fertilizer with a dilute solution of any flowering houseplant fertilizer from spring through summer.
