Eco-friendly Control of Cabbage Worms

Whether your favorite side dish is coleslaw, broccoli and cauliflower casserole or roasted Brussels sprouts youll get the best flavor when you grow the main ingredients yourself.

And if you have you probably find the leaves of these plants riddled with holes by mid season.

Worm-like larvae eat holes in the leaves of these plants.

Regularly check along the stems and between leaves and destroy any gelatinous eggs and green caterpillars you find.

Apply the environmentally friendly Bacillus thuringiensis that kills only true caterpillars and is safe for people, pets and wildlife.

Prevent the damage by covering these plants with a floating row cover. These fabrics allow air, light and water through but prevent the insects from laying their eggs on the plants.

A bit more information: Try interplanting short season radishes with long season cole crops such as cabbage, broccoli and cauliflower. Not only will you double your harvest, but you can also eliminate problems with root maggot on radishes by protecting the whole planting with the floating row cover.
