Add some beauty and motion to your indoor garden with prayer plants.

The common name was inspired by the leaves folding up at night, like praying hands. During the day the leaves fold back down returning the plant to its low spreading habit, making it perfect as a tabletop or hanging plant.

Grow your plant in bright indirect sunlight for best results. It will tolerate low light conditions but the variegated patterns on the leaves may fade.

Water thoroughly when the soil surface begins to dry and often enough to keep the soil moist but not soggy wet.

If leaves develop brown tips, adjust your watering schedule and do not let the pot sit in excess water that collects in the saucer.  Keep the soil slightly moist and use distilled water or rainwater to reduce brown edges caused by chlorine and fluoride in the tap water.

A bit more information: Prayer plant is a tropical that prefers humid conditions. Group it with other indoor plants or place on a gravel tray to increase humidity around the plant. For more information, click here
