Create a tropical paradise indoors with one of many palms suited to growing in your home.

Most palms require bright light. Place them in front of a sunny window or a brightly lit corner or wall.

Water thoroughly just as the soil surface begins to dry. Keep the soil slightly moist like a sponge that has been wrung out. Overwatering can cause root rot and under watering results in brown tips and fronds.

Increase the humidity around your plant by filling the saucer with pebbles and water. Place the pot on the pebbles above the water. As the water evaporates, it increases the humidity around the plants.

Fertilize actively growing plants with a slow release houseplant fertilizer according to label directions.

Repot plants every year or two as they outgrow their containers.  Move the plant into a pot no more than 1 or 2” larger in diameter.

A bit more information:  Palms are relatively pest free. Avoid problems with spider mites by keeping the soil evenly moist and humidity high.
