Fight the winter blues and add a little sparkle to your indoor décor with flowering houseplants. A colorful cyclamen, long-blooming orchid or easy-care anthurium are sure to make you smile every time you catch a glimpse of these beauties.
Start with a trip to your favorite florist or garden center. Wander through their plant collection and feel your blood pressure drop, mood improve and if you are like me, you’ll find plenty of beautiful plants to try.
Select a plant that will complement your indoor décor. Now review the care tag and make sure it will thrive in your indoor growing conditions and with the care that you’re able to provide.
Most flowering plants prefer a bright location free of drafts of hot and cold air. Water thoroughly and often enough to keep the soil slightly moist. And pour off excess water that collects in the saucer. But always follow recommendations on the tag.
A bit more information: Wrap indoor and flowering plants for the trip home. A blast of cold air and freezing temperatures can damage or even kill your new purchase.
