  • Soil pH adaptable
  • Will tolerate light shade, but flower production will be deminished
  • Plant bare-root weigela in the spring before growth begins
  • Transplant container stock throughout the growing season
  • Mulch the soil around Weigela to conserve moisture and reduce weed problems
  • Pollution tolerant
  • Flowers on old wood, prune after flowering
  • Weigelas are prone to winter dieback, remove any dead wood as it is discovered
  • Rejuvenate overgrown older plants by pruning back to the ground

  • Minuet - dark, ruby red flowers with lilac-purple lobes and yellow throat, dark green purple tinged leaves
  • My Monet - lovely variegated foliage of pink, white and green; deep pink flowers, 12 to 18 inches tall
  • Sonic Bloom Series - Pearl Sonic Bloom sports white flowers with yellow throats maturing to pink, Pink Sonic Bloom has pink flowers, Red Sonic Bloom has lipstick red flowers
