- Darwin - best known of the late tulips, 24 to 32 inches tall
- Lily flowered type - pointed and reflexed petals, 24 inches tall
- Cottage type - egg shaped, 12 to 30 inches tall, found in cottage gardens of France and England
- Rembrandt type - broken flower color, painted by old Masters
- Parrot type - fringed petals, often shredded, scallped or wavy; large flowers need protection from wind
- Double late type - peony flowered, 16 to 24 inches tall
