Plant Some AAS Winners Now for Fall Harvest
Plant some winning short season vegetable varieties now for a fall harvest.
Select a few All-America Selections winners to fill in any empty spaces in your garden or containers. These varieties are “Tested nationally and proven locally™” for their garden performance. Just calculate the number of days from planting to the first fall frost. Select vegetables that will mature in that amount of time. Then get busy planting.
Beets are a favorite for their tasty greens and flavorful roots and are ready to harvest in 50 to 65 days. Avalanche has a mild, sweet flavored white root.
Keep your salad bowls filled with Sandy oakleaf lettuce ready to harvest in as few as 30 days. And add a bit of texture and color with the Red Sails lettuce.
Plant colorful Sweet Baby radishes ready to harvest in 45 days. The elongated roots are purple, white and rose.
A bit more information: Grow some Mascotte snap beans perfect for small spaces and containers. The long slender pods are ready to pick in about 50 days from planting.
