Growing Rosemary Indoors
Rosemary is a favorite herb of cooks, crafters, and gardeners. It is often grown indoors as topiaries and miniature trees for holiday celebrations. But, keeping it looking its best throughout the winter can be challenging.
Grow your Rosemary in the sunniest location possible. Supplement the lower light conditions of the indoors with artificial lights to increase your chance of success. Avoid drafts of hot and cold air. Water your plant thoroughly but only when the soil is just starting to dry. There’s usually no need to fertilize during this period of limited growth.
Trim wayward shoots as needed to maintain its sculpted appearance. Use these or harvest small shoots to use for cooking, garnishes, or fragrance.
And if your plant does die, stick it in a corner out of sight, but within reach. A gentle petting of even a dead Rosemary plant, will still release the wonderful fragrance for you to enjoy.
A bit more information: Or try mixing a few sprigs of fresh and dried Rosemary in your holiday centerpieces and wreaths. They add a nice color, texture, and fragrance to the room. And include them in sachets to use yourself or to give as gifts.
