Growing Bok Choy also known as Pak Choi (Brassica rapa chinensis)

Dress up your spring and fall gardens, containers and meals with bok choy.

Also known as pak choi, its mild flavor makes a great addition to stir fries and soups. It can be fermented into kimchi or added to eggroll and dumpling filling mixtures. It’s a great source of Vitamin A, calcium and iron.

Start bok choy from seeds directly in the garden or from transplants started indoors. Check seed packets for recommended planting dates for your location.  Grow pak choi in full sun and protect young spring plantings from frost and cold night temperatures.

The All-America Selections Asian Delight outperformed other bok choy varieties in the trials. Its heat tolerance delayed flowering more than doubling the yield of other varieties.

This bok choy forms 5 to 7” loose heads with tasty tender white ribs and dark green textured leaves.

A bit more information: Bok choy is ready to harvest when the leaves reach a usable size. You can harvest just a few outer leaves to use as needed or the whole plant at one time.
