Reduce Holiday Stress with Plants
The holidays are upon us and our already full schedules are being overloaded with shopping, baking, decorating, and parties. Consider adding a few plants or indoor gardening activities to brighten your spirits, reduce stress and maybe even result in a homemade gift or two.
Let’s start with those left over unplanted bulbs. Plant several bulbs in a container filled with a well-drained potting mix, water and store in a cool (35 to 45 degree) location for 15 weeks. Anytime after that, you can move them to a cool sunny window and within 4 weeks you’ll have beautiful blooms.
Pot up a few extras for hostess or holiday gifts. And be sure to include the directions.
Or stop by your florist and purchase some cut flowers or a holiday plant. Their soothing aroma, the act of flower arranging and colorful blooms brighten a room and our mood. And they’ll do the same for your favorite hostess.
A bit more information: Since the Middle Ages healers have seen the connection between plants and wellness. Monasteries built gardens to create a soothing distraction for the ill. And for more details on forcing bulbs watch my video.
