Recycled Items Dress up Garden Fence or Wall
Put discarded items to work creating a screen or dressing up a bare wall or fence in your landscape.
Paint metal wreath forms colors that complement nearby plantings. Then mount them on the wall in an attractive arrangement.
Gather inspiration and materials from your favorite games and sports. A collection of dominoes becomes a piece of art while old skis and hockey sticks create a fence, screen or gate.
Paint old metal cans a variety of bright colors. Drill holes in the bottom for drainage, fill with potting mix and add flowers to create a colorful display.
Secure chicken wire onto a window or picture frame. Then hang small pots filled with plants from the chicken wire.
Turn an old spice rack or shower caddy into a vertical garden. Line the wire racks with landscape fabric or sphagnum moss. Add potting mix and colorful flowers or fragrant herbs.
A bit more information: Make sure plants you select are suited to the size of the container used and growing conditions. Use a quality potting mix and a low nitrogen slow release fertilizer like Milorganite to reduce ongoing maintenance and supply plants with needed nutrients for several months.
