Make Your Own Flower Press
Once your spare books are filled with pressed flowers, it is time to consider making your own flower press.
You will need two pieces of wood cut to the same size. And if needed, ask a friend or your local hardware or big box store to cut the wood for you.
Consider the size of paper when creating your flower press. A 9 x 12” flower press will accommodate 8 1/2 x 11” pieces of paper. But you can make your flower press any size you like – just cut the paper and cardboard to fit.
Stack the boards, line up the edges and drill holes in each corner through both pieces of wood. Drill holes large enough to accommodate the bolts. Cut the corners off the paper and cardboard if needed to fit between the corner bolts. Then start layering cardboard, paper and flowers for pressing. Insert bolts and tighten the wing nuts.
A bit more information: Harvest and press flowers when at their peak. Store pressed flowers in paper envelopes or between sheets of paper. Place in stationary or shoe boxes in a dry location.
