Fruit and Vegetable Prints
Turn fruit and vegetable scraps into works of art.
All you need is paper or fabric, poster or tempera paint when working on paper and acrylic or fabric paint for fabric. Gather various fruits and vegetables with interesting shapes and textures on the inside or out. Use a portion for printing and the rest for a nutritious meal or snack.
Place some paint in shallow containers. Slice through vegetables like peppers, okra and Brussels sprouts with interesting internal structures. Dip the cut end in the paint, shake off the excess, and press the painted side onto the fabric or paper. Try rolling a section of corn on the cob, florets of broccoli, or pea pods in the paint, shake off the excess and press onto your canvas.
Or cut a potato or carrot slice into a star, heart or flower to use for printing.
A bit more information: Use your fruit and vegetable prints to create a scenic picture, collage, abstract or realistic works of art. Or brighten someone’s day and make them into greeting cards to share with others.
