Plant a Patriotic Red, White, and Blue Garden or Container

Celebrate the Fourth of July with a little red, white and blue in the garden.

Many garden centers sell large size annuals this time.  Add these to a vacant garden in the landscape or create a few patriotic containers to enjoy as you celebrate this holiday.

Red geraniums skirted with white alyssum or dusty miller and Laguna or another heat tolerant lobelia is a traditional combination.  Other red options include salvia, red leafed coleus, verbena, and red fountain grassAgeratum, nemesia, and petunias provide a blue to purple-blue addition.  And finish off your patriotic combo with white diamond frost euphorbia, lobelia, verbena, petunias, Angelonia and more.

Wax begonias, coleus, impatiens and torenia are a few shade plants.

Just make sure all the plants combined - require the same light and moisture requirements.

A bit more information:  Visit Proven Winners website for more patriotic container combinations.  Go to  provenwinners.com and click on Container Recipes and do a Search by Container Features.  Under Color Schemes you will find Patriotic (red, white and blue) container combinations.
