Design a Garden with 24 Hours of Blooms

Enjoy 24 hours of fragrant blooms with a garden filled with day and night blooming flowers.

Most of us are familiar with morning glories and daylilies. Individual flowers open early in the morning and only last one day.  Fortunately, new blossoms replace the faded flowers. Include several varieties of daylilies or grow repeat bloomers for a longer floral display.

Watch the poppies, marigolds and zinnia flowers that also open early in the day.  The annual marigolds and zinnias provide color summer through frost.

As the morning glories fade the four o’clocks begin to open as the light changes and temperatures cool. Enjoy four o’clocks blossoms from mid-summer through frost.

Moonflowers, tuberoses and night blooming phlox take center stage in the evening garden.  These and many other night blooming plants are fragrant.

A bit more information: Other fragrant flowers include alyssum, heliotrope, flowering tobacco and lilies. Many like flowering tobacco have the best fragrance from evening through early morning. Select varieties known for their fragrance.
