All-America Selection Winners for Containers and Small Space Gardens
Brighten up small spaces with a few of the 2017 All-America Selection winners. These smaller scale winners are great for containers and gardens of all sizes.
Enjoy the bright yellow fruit of the new compact Patio Choice Yellow Tomato. This 18-inch-tall plant produces over 100 one-half inch mild flavored yellow cherry tomatoes. Grow it in a garden, a pot or hanging basket for easier picking.
Patio Pride Pea is a southeast regional winner. This compact plant starts producing in 40 days and continues producing for weeks. It’s great in containers and the garden and combines nicely with cool season annual flowers.
Brighten your flower pots and window boxes with Calliope Medium Dark Red Geranium. Its heat and drought tolerance along with the mounded semi-spreading growth habit make it a perfect plant for containers. The deep red flowers atop sturdy stems stand out above the dark green leaves.
A bit more information: Consider a few of the other smaller-scale plants for containers and small spaces. The small scale Mascotte snap bean is a 2014 winner. Salad Bush cucumber produces full size fruit on small plants and Patio Baby eggplant yields an early crop of 2 to 3” fruit on a compact plant.
