Thin Man Indian Grass (Sorghastrum nutans ‘Thin Man’)
Add year-round interest to your garden with Thin Man Indian grass. This cultivar of a North American Native grass is more drought tolerant than its Midwest and East Coast counterparts.
This selection of Indian grass was collected near Clovis New Mexico, propagated and selected as one of the 2017 Plant Select introductions. This brand of plants is designed to flourish in challenging conditions, providing more beauty with less work.
Thin Man Indian grass has a narrow upright growth habit as the name implies. It grows about 72 inches tall and only 24 to 30 inches wide. The blue-green foliage adds interest throughout the growing season and is topped by golden-bronze flowers in late summer. You’ll enjoy watching the songbirds and other animals that come to feast on the seeds.
Hardy in zones 4 to 9, this plant tolerates a wide range of soils.
A bit more information: Indian grass (Sorghastrum nutans) is native to central and eastern United States. Since Thin Man Indian Grass was collected in New Mexico, it is much more drought tolerant than those native to eastern United States.
