Low Maintenance Heat and Drought Tolerant Zinnia
Plant zinnias to keep your landscape filled with color, butterflies and hummingbirds throughout the hot dry months of summer.
You’ll find a variety of flower shapes and colors for the garden, containers and flower arrangements.
Grow tall varieties for larger arrangements and as a backdrop for other flowers. The 2 ½ to 3 feet tall Uproar rose zinnia is topped with 5-inch diameter neon rose colored flowers.
Use the shorter mildew-resistant Mexican zinnia in containers, along the edge of the garden or to temporarily fill voids in perennial plantings. The small daisy-like flowers don’t need deadheading and blend nicely with both annual and perennial flowers.
Consider the All-America Selections zinnia winners Holi Scarlet, Profusion and Zahara that have been trialed nationally and selected for their outstanding performance and disease resistance.
A bit more information: Plant zinnia seeds directly in the garden and enjoy flowers in as few as 8 weeks. These fast-growing annuals fill in quickly to crowd out weeds, reducing your time spent weeding. Just grow in full sun and well-drained soil for best results.
