Enjoy a Few Edible Pansies
Pick a few pansy flowers and add a smile to any occasion. No matter where you live, pansies provide color, and in some cases, fragrance, to the garden and containers during the cooler months of the year.
Pick a few flowers and freeze them in ice cube trays to serve in your favorite beverage. They will brighten any occasion, especially when snow is in the forecast.
Set a few flowers on a bed of greens for unique flavor and added color. And use them to decorate cookies or cakes. The cheerful flowers will generate happy thoughts and for some of us, a way to enjoy the last of this season’s garden.
Make candied pansies by painting the flowers with egg white that has been beaten until foamy. Add water if needed for even spreading. Then sprinkle the flower with sugar.
Only use pansies and other edible flowers that have not been treated with pesticides.
A bit more information: Float a few flowers in a glass of your favorite punch. Let your guests know the pansies are safe to eat, so they can enjoy this unique dining experience. Otherwise, you will find blossoms at the bottom of glasses or side of the plates.
