2020 Dancing Queen Hosta of the Year

Unique large yellow leaves won Dancing Queen the title 2020 Hosta of the Year.

You’ll enjoy the bright yellow leaves as they emerge in spring. Unlike other yellow-leafed varieties Dancing Queen’s leaves turn to a softer yellow in mid to late summer instead of greening up to chartreuse.

The large leaves have a scalloped edge adding to its appeal. Pale lavender flowers appear in summer and make great additions to summer bouquets. Be sure to leave a few of the blossoms for the hummingbirds.

Include this colorful hosta in shade gardens with ferns, astilbes, and other shade tolerant perennials. It also tolerates sunny locations with moist soil. Use this and other hostas to help mask the fading foliage of spring flowering bulbs like daffodils and Virginia bluebells.

Dancing Queen hosta is hardy in zones 3 to 8 and grows 24 inches tall and 40 inches wide.

A bit more information:  Protect your hostas from hungry deer and rabbits. Apply a repellent as soon as the leaves break through the soil and repeat as recommended on the label.
