Yellow Vine Parasite
I have a yellow vine parasite on my mums. Can you tell me what it is and how to get rid of it?
The yellow parasitic plant is called dodder. It can be found in landscapes, nurseries and farm fields throughout the United States. This annual vine gets its water and nutrients from the host plant and reproduces by forming its own seeds. The plants are killed by frost in fall but the seeds can live for many years in the soil. Mulch the soil to reduce all weed problems. Pull young dodder plants as soon as they sprout and before they parasitize the plants, flower and form seeds.
