Wisteria Growth

I planted a wisteria on the south side of my house in full sun.  I want it to make an arch over the entrance to my front porch and then wrap around the top of the porch.  Will this grow into my siding and soffit and cause problems.  If so, what is the best way to control wisteria.

I've heard they can be pretty invasive. Wisteria is a rampant growing vine.  It eventually develops large trunks and heavy stems.  Most of the damage caused by this plant is from its weight collapsing the support structure.  Regular and aggressive pruning will help keep the plant under control.  You will need to prune established plants in late winter and again in summer to control growth and promote bloom.
