Will My Hollyhocks Grow True to Seed?
Our normally 6 feet tall hollyhock grew 10 and one half feet tall this summer. If we save its seed will the offspring also grow this tall?
A perfect longer than normal growing season and plenty of moisture can encourage plants to grow taller than usual. Collecting seeds from these and other plants is always fun and often surprising. The offspring are not always exact replicas of their parents. Some of the hollyhock offspring may taller than normal and others will be shorter. The colors may also vary. If you have the room you may want to collect some seed, plant, and see what develops.
