What Shrubs Require Pruning
What shrubs require pruning?
Most plants need some pruning to establish a strong and attractive framework and to remove dead, diseased, insect infested, crossing, rubbing or damaged branches. Always prune with a purpose in mind. Too often gardeners feel they must go out and prune because its spring or all their neighbors are doing it. A properly selected and sited shrub will need minimal pruning. One that is too big for the location will need regular pruning to control the growth so it will fit into a space too small for its mature size. Sheared plants pruned into neat geometric shapes will need regular pruning to maintain these tidy forms in the landscape.
