Wax Plant

What can you tell me about wax plant?

A favorite of mine, the wax plant is known botanically as Hoya carnosa.  It has attractive foliage and when the conditions are right, will produce beautiful fragrant blooms.  Grow this houseplant in a container filled with a well-drained potting mix and placed in bright light.  Water thoroughly whenever the top few inches of soil just start to dry.  Keep the soil a bit moister during the summer when the plant is actively growing.  Allow the soil to dry slightly when the plant is resting during the winter.  High humidity in spring and summer followed by cooler temperatures and drier soil in winter will encourage flowering.  Limit pruning.  Many hoyas develop long leafless flowering stems.  Leave these and the shorter flower stems intact for next year's bloom.
