Using Dormant Oil

Should I use a dormant oil spray on my trees this year?

Dormant oil spray is used to control insects that overwinter on trees.  They kill overwintering insects such as mites, aphids or scales.  If these pests were not a problem last year there is no reason to treat. Unnecessary spraying wastes your time, money and can be harmful to your plants and the environment. Be sure to read and follow label directions before using any product.
