Trumpet Vine Has Taken Over
How do we get rid of trumpet vines? We planted them along a fence behind our perennial garden. They are taking over and don't bloom well. We would like to get rid of them and leave the fence bare.
As you discovered, this aggressive vine often muscles its way into areas it was not invited. Continually cutting the vine and all its runners to the ground removes the energy producing leaves and eventually kills the plant. Otherwise apply a total vegetation killer or a brush killer. Whether using traditional or new environmentally friendly products read and follow label directions carefully. All these products are plant killers and can injure or kill your desirable plants as well as the weeds. Several applications may be needed to control this beautiful but aggressive vine.
