Transplanting Christmas Cactus
My Christmas cactus is just starting to form buds. It is in a small pot and I would like to move it into a larger container. When can I do this?
Wait until after the plant is done flowering. I like to do my transplanting in late winter when the indoor growing conditions start to improve with the increase in daylight. Transplant your Christmas cactus into the next size container, one that is only one to two inches larger in diameter than the existing container. This will help you avoid root rot, poor growth and delayed flowering that occurs when transplanting into a much larger container. Adjust your watering schedule to accommodate the different potting mix and larger container.
