Selecting Houseplants
I would like to know of some plants that you can grow inside. I am unable to do too much due to health problems. Also my income and window space are limted.
Indoor plants are a great way to brighten our spirits, improve our health, and bring our love for gardening indoors. You may want to ask friends and family member for cuttings of their favorite plants. Most gardeners love to share plants and it just might help build new friendships over shared interest. Many gardeners still grow old time favorites that tolerate low light like philodendron and pothos. You may want to purchase one of the newer cultivars like Brazil philodendron or Neon and Silver Satin pothos for a little extra color and beauty. The cast iron and snake plants are among the toughest plants and great for those that are new at indoor gardening. Consider African violets and orchids for a few colorful flowers indoors. Those with pets should check out the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals website (www.aspca.org) for a list of plants toxic to cats and dogs.
