Rose Chafers on Peony

I think I have rose chafers feeding on my peonies.

Rose chafers and several other beetles will eat holes in peony leaves. Small populations usually do no cause enough damage to warrant control. Knock these and other leaf eating beetles off the plants and into a can of soapy water to reduce their population and the damage. Eco-friendly insecticides can be used to control large damaging populations. Read and follow all label directions carefully. Remember the chafers and many insects only feed for a short time and are often done feeding by the time we discover the damage. So treatment is unnecessary. One reader had good results with a trap. She used a damp white towel in a container to attract the rose chafers. It may help reduce the number of pests and their damage.
