Quick Covering Vine

I'm looking for a perennial that will quickly cover my new arbor with blooms. Any suggestions of plants for zone 5 that won't keep me waiting for several seasons?

Try mixing annual and perennial vines the first few seasons.  The annual vines will give you quick cover and bloom the first season while the perennial vine becomes established for long term beauty.  Annuals like canary creeper (Tropaeolum peregrinum) red morning glory (Ipomoea coccinea), Spanish flag (Ipomea lobata) or purple hyacinth bean (Lablab purpureus) will all grow and bloom in full sun or light shade.  Heavy shade may reduce the flower display.  Most vine type honeysuckles (Lonicera) will flower all summer long in full sun or partial shade.  Consider some of the ornamental hops or Artic Beauty kiwi with decorative foliage that provides a colorful display all season.  Mix in a Sweet Autumn clematis (Clematis terniflora formerly Clematis paniculata and maximowicziana) for a fragrant fall flower display and you will have an arbor sure to please.
