Plants For Wet, Soggy Sites
Do any flowering plants withstand wet and soggy ground? I have an area in my yard that’s perpetually wet—even during dry spells—and the weeds that grow there are a real eyesore.
You should strongly consider native wetland plants. Marsh marigold (Caltha palustris) is one flower that does well in such conditions. Other wet-soil lovers include spring-flowering skunk cabbage, sedges (Carex), nodding burr marigold (Bidens cernua), golden ragwort (Senecio aurens), swamp milkweed (Asclepias incarnata), red twig and gray dogwoods and willows. Consult your local nature center, garden center or a catalog to find out which plants are suitable.
